Question:147 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Defence when a decision will be made regarding the additional numbers which will be enlisted in the Naval Service in 1997; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7203/97]

At present the necessary induction procedures are taking place for the enlistment on 24 March 1997 of 25 recruits for service in the Naval Service. A date has not yet been decided on for further Naval Service enlistment this year.
