Adjournment Debate Matters.

An Leas-Cheann Comhairle

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Callely — the need to extend the recently announced package of incentives for job creation outside the Dublin area to Dublin and in particular to areas of high unemployment within Dublin; (2) Deputy Sargent — the need to meet with Fingal County Council and various representative bodies to establish a properly resourced harbour authority for Skerries and Balbriggan prior to the vesting of the two harbours in Fingal County Council; (3) Deputy Seán Ryan — the effects of the phasing out of duty free facilities in 1999 and the need for the Government to reactivate this issue within the EU; (4) Deputy Nealon — the progress to date of the rural renewal pilot scheme for the provision of public services being run by the Department of the Taoiseach in the Geevagh area of County Sligo; (5) Deputy Theresa Ahearn — the exclusion of Irish medical students in the Royal College of Surgeons from the free tuition fees scheme, the injustice to those students and their families and the immediate need for the inclusion of the college in the free fee scheme as the college is not part of the CAO system; (6) Deputy Dempsey — the proposal to erect a statue of St. Patrick at Tara, County Meath, to which local people object and which does not reflect the religious significance of the saint or his association with the area.

The matters raised by Deputies Nealon, Dempsey, Theresa Ahearn and Sargent have been selected for discussion.
