39 Mr. Nealon asked the Minister for Finance the number of civil servants, industrial and non-industrial, on 1 January 1995; and the number of civil servants, industrial and non-industrial, by Department or office on 1 January 1997. [7185/97]
On 1 January 1995 the number of non-industrial civil servants was 28,370, while the number of industrial civil servants was 1,785, giving a total of 30,155. On 1 January 1997, the number of non-industrial civil servants was 29,236.5, while the number of industrial civil servants was 1,779, giving a total of 31,015.5. A detailed breakdown of these numbers by Department is given in the following table.
