Vol. 476 No. 4

Written Answers. - Day Care Centres.

Joe Walsh

Question:

57 Mr. J. Walsh asked the Minister for Health the plans, if any, he has for the establishment of day care centres in the Cork area; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7317/97]

Limerick East): As the Deputy will be aware, the provision of day care centres for the elderly in the Cork area is the responsibility of the Southern Health Board.

I have received a copy of the Southern Health Board's plan for the development of day hospitals and day care centres, and this is currently being examined by my Department. Funding for the proposals contained within the board's plan will be considered in the light of its internal priorities and the overall capital funding available to my Department.
