Vol. 476 No. 4

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Joe Jacob

Question:

69 Mr. Jacob asked the Minister for the Environment when he will provide funding under the small water and sewerage scheme programme for the extension of the sewerage scheme in Bray to the Dargle Valley, County Dublin. [7166/97]

In March 1996, Bray Urban District Council submitted a proposal costing an estimated £112,500 in respect of this scheme under the small schemes programme. However, as that programme is largely directed at meeting the water and sewerage needs of small towns and villages on the basis of proposals submitted by county councils, it was not possible to approve the proposal. It will, in the future, be a matter for county councils to decide on funding for small water and sewerage scheme projects under the new measures being introduced for the devolution of responsibility for such schemes.
