86 Kathleen Lynch asked the Minister for Education the total allocation by her Department for the vocational educational committees in Dublin city, County Dublin, Dun Laoghaire, County Cork and Limerick city in 1997; the number of staff employed by each; the allocation for each in respect of adult literacy and basic education; the enrolment of each in the area of adult literacy and basic education; and the number of staff engaged in adult literacy and basic education work in each of these vocational education areas. Financial allocations for vocational education committees have not yet been finalised for 1997.

The statistical data requested concerning numbers employed by the vocational education committees concerned is not readily available in my Department. A complete reply will issue to the Deputy as soon as possible.
