Vol. 476 No. 5

Written Answers - Tax Incentives.

Cecilia Keaveney

Question:

118 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht the tax or other incentives which are available to encourage people involved in fine arts to practice their craft in Ireland; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7601/97]

The question of the availability of tax incentives to encourage people involved in fine arts to practice their craft in Ireland is a matter for the Minister for Finance. No other incentives are available in this area from my Department. However, the Deputy will be aware that an Chomhairle Ealaíon, which is autonomous in the disbursement of the funds available to it, supports many art forms. Details of this support can be found in the annual report of an Chomhairle which are laid before each House of the Oireachtas.
