Vol. 476 No. 5

Written Answers - Schools Building Projects.

Albert Reynolds

Question:

148 Mr. Reynolds asked the Minister for Education the reason Lanesboro community college has been refused permission to advertise for tenders to build the necessary extension for the college; and the reason this college was not included in the 1997 list of capital allocations in order to allow the project to urgently proceed, thus not honouring a commitment to proceed without delay. [7376/97]

Due to budgetary constraints it was not possible to include all deserving projects on the 1997 capital programme announced earlier this year. However, the programme is being kept under review and the project at Lanesboro will receive every consideration at the appropriate time.
