Written Answers - Schools Refurbishment.

Cecilia Keaveney

Question:

165 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Education the funding provided in each of the years from 1995 to date in 1997 for the provision of school extensions or upgrading; the locations of the schools involved; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [7487/97]

Details of the capital funding provided in each of the years from 1995 to date are as follows:

Year

First Level

Second Level

Total

£

£

£

1995

25,227,000

39,067,000

64,294,000

1996

30,700,000

32,700,000

63,400,000

1997

27,665,000

30,400,000

58,065,000

It is not possible to provide data on all of the individual projects funded because it would require a disproportionate amount of official time and expenditure to collate such information.

Hugh Byrne

Question:

166 Mr. H. Byrne asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the necessity for extra rooms at Clongeen national school, County Wexford; if her attention has further been drawn to the undue delay in the provision of such rooms; if she will give immediate instruction to have the works commence; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [7506/97]

My Department received an application from Clongeen national school for the provision of additional accommodation.

The position is that as finances for 1997 are fully committed, I am not in a position to sanction grant-aid towards additional accommodation at this school. The matter will be considered in the light of future capital allocations.

Michael Ring

Question:

167 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Education if she will provide funding for a new roof at the school in Murrisk, County Mayo. [7530/97]

My Department recently sanctioned a grant for the replacement of the roof at Murrisk national school. The school has been advised of the position.
