Vol. 476 No. 5

Written Answers - Recognition of Qualifications.

Cecilia Keaveney

Question:

187 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Education the reason a person (details supplied) in County Donegal, who holds a postgraduate certificate in education from Northern Ireland, has not had her qualifications recognised by her Department in view of the fact that this prevents the person from gaining an upgraded allowance in spite of the fact that she took the postgraduate certificate in education management to further her professional development; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [7706/97]

Only qualifications which are agreed under the process of conciliation and arbitration and which appear on the Department's official list are eligible for an additional allowance.

The postgraduate certificate in education management is not included on the list and, therefore, cannot be recognised for an allowance.
