Question:212 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Justice if she will expedite an application to the Land Registry for registration of title by a person (details supplied) in County Cork. [7502/97]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this case refers to an application under section 49 — i.e. acquisition of title by virtue of long possession — of the Registration of Title Act, 1964 which was originally lodged in the Land Registry on 31 July 1995. The application was rejected in August 1995 and was relodged on 30 November 1995. Queries were issued to the lodging solicitor on 13 March 1997 and a reply is awaited. I understand that due to their complicated nature, applications under section 49 take some time to process and it is not possible to estimate a completion time at this stage.
