Vol. 476 No. 5

Written Answers - Operational Progress for Transport.

Joe Jacob

Question:

280 Mr. Jacob asked the Minister for the Marine the progress, if any, made in the mid-term review of the Operational Programme for Transport, 1994-99, including the ports element; whether funding will be made available during the second half of the programme for the proposed roll-on-roll-off project in Arklow, County Wicklow, as a result of this review; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7439/97]

The mid-term evaluation of the Operational Programme for Transport is under way at present. Recommendations on the future allocation of funding will be made by the monitoring committee following meetings to be held over the coming months, and finally, in the context of the mid-term review of the Community Support Framework (CSF) later in 1997.

My Department in its contribution to this review process will endeavour to ensure that the outcome of the review will enable the funding needs of all suitable regional port projects to be met.
