Vol. 476 No. 5

Written Answers - Tax Allowances.

Ned O'Keeffe

Question:

70 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Finance the reason a person (details supplied) in County Cork, who is separated, has been granted a married allowance in his tax free allowance certificate; and if his attention has been drawn to the fact that this person was previously in receipt of the single person's allowance. [7672/97]

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that in the case of the taxpayer in question, the correct tax-free allowance is the single person's allowance. The married allowance was given in error and the position has now been corrected.
