Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.
An extension of 1,500 square metres has been approved for Scoil Dara, Kilcock, County Kildare. A design team has been appointed and architectural planning is under way. At this early stage, I am not in a position to say if the project will be included in the 1998 capital programme.

Treacy asked the Minister for Education the reason a project (details supplied) in County Galway has not been sanctioned; the date on which this will be done; the current position regarding this project; the amount being allocated in this regard for 1997; the date on which works will commence; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The reason the project at the school to which the Deputy refers has not been sanctioned is that it is not on the capital programme. Before the project can be considered for inclusion in a future programme the long-term accommodation needs have to be determined, together with a costing for the project. This work is under way and my Department will be in touch with the school management shortly.
