76 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Health when allocations will be made to the health boards for 1997; if there will be an increase for child care or community care in 1997; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7868/97]

Limerick East): In line with the publication of the Abridged Book of Estimates, all health boards were notified of their 1997 allocation in writing on the 23 December 1996.

In relation to child care, an additional sum of £5 million was provided in 1997 together with an additional £2.5 million to cover the full year cost in 1997 of developments which were introduced in 1996.

A wide range of developments in the community care area received additional funding in 1997. This total additional amount was in the region of £20 million.
