Smith asked the Minister for the Environment if his attention has been drawn to the urgent need to progress stage 2 of the Bailieborough regional water supply scheme; when this project will go to tender; when construction will commence; if funding will be provided for this project in 1997; and if he will make a statement on the matter. 95 Mr. B. Smith asked the Minister for the Environment the water and sewerage schemes in County Cavan; the level of funding per project which will be assisted in 1997; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7846/97]

The major water and sewerage schemes for County Cavan included in water and sewerage services capital programme for 1997 are as follows:

Cavan Sewerage — Phosphorous Removal	81,000
Ballyconnell Sewerage	1,310,000
Ballyjamesduff Regional Water Supply	7,200,000
Virginia Sewerage	1,766,000

Funding in 1997 for each scheme will be sufficient to meet the cost of all approved work as it is carried out; payments to the local authority will depend on the rate at which expenditure is incurred by them and included in claims made to the Department.
