Vol. 476 No. 7

Request to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31.

An Leas-Cheann Comhairle

I propose to deal with a notice of motion under Standing Order 31 from Deputy Liam Fitzgerald. I now call on Deputy Fitzgerald to state the matter of which he has given notice.

I wish to seek leave to move the Adjournment of the Dáil to discuss a matter of urgent public interest requiring urgent consideration, namely, if the Government has decided to suspend the proceedings of the tribunal of inquiry into the alleged payments by Dunnes Stores in the event of the calling of a general election so as to safeguard the integrity of the tribunal and the political process.

An Leas-Cheann Comhairle

Having considered the matter fully, it is not considered to be contemplated by Standing Order 31. Therefore, leave cannot be granted to move the motion.
