Vol. 476 No. 7

Written Answers. - Listed Buildings.

Cecilia Keaveney

Question:

186 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht the current position in relation to the implementation of recommendations contained in the interdepartmental working group report on listed buildings; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8201/97]

As I stated in reply to previous parliamentary questions in this House, I and my colleague the Minister for the Environment, Deputy Brendan Howlin, intend to bring forward to Government a package of specific financial, administrative and legislative proposals, based on the recommendations in the "Report of the InterDepartmental Working Group on Strengthening the Protection of the Architectural Heritage" and taking account of observations received on those recommendations, for consideration.

Consideration of the issues involved is at a very advanced stage and it is hoped to bring the package of proposals forward to Government very shortly.
