Vol. 476 No. 7

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Eric J. Byrne

Question:

223 Mr. E. Byrne asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the case being made for an extension to the CBS in Drimnagh Castle, Dublin 12; the reason for the delay in its processing by the building unit in Tullamore in view of the fact that her Department has accepted the school's case for an extension; when this school can expect sanction to proceed; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [7926/97]

The post primary building unit of my Department has examined the school's stage 3 submission and had requested that a number of issues be addressed by the school's design team. The amendments are currently being examined by my Department's technical staff and when they are satisfied with the stage 3 documentation, the project will proceed to the detail design stage.

When the detail design has been completed, a bill of quantities will be prepared and a decision on further progress to the tendering stage will be taken in the light of the financial situation at that time.
