Vol. 476 No. 7

Written Answers. - Third Level Grants.

Cecilia Keaveney

Question:

239 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Education whether a grant can be approved for a mature student (details supplied) in County Donegal who has failed to gain full-time employment with her current qualifications and is, there- fore, forced to follow an alternative postgraduate course and maintain two homes for the next 18 months, the duration of the course; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [7979/97]

Under the terms of the third level student support schemes a student may not be awarded a grant in respect of a second period of college attendance at the same level, irrespective of whether a grant was paid previously. As the student in question has already pursued a postgraduate level course, she is not entitled to grant assistance to pursue a second period of postgraduate study.
