Vol. 476 No. 7

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Noel Davern

Question:

252 Mr. Davern asked the Minister for Education if she will consider a request from the board of management of Ayle national school, County Tipperary, for the provision of grant-aid towards the cost of completing the construction of necessary additional accommodation, consisting of a classroom for a remedial teacher, a strong room, toilet and storage space, and the equipping of these facilities at this school; when a decision will be made on the matter; and if she will make a statement regarding the facilities at this school. [8087/97]

My Department has received an application for grant-aid towards the cost of providing a remedial room and other ancillary accommodation at Ayle national school, County Tipperary.

I am not in a position to provide grant-aid for this project. At present, I am dealing with a backlog of projects arising out of the major cuts in the capital funding of primary schools in 1988-92. Consequently, it is not possible to fund all deserving projects.
