Question:

328 Mr. E. Byrne asked the Minister for Social Welfare the number and the proportion unemployed for between two and three years and for three years or more for each of the years from 1992 to date. [7894/97]

Information on the long-term unemployed is derived from the live register age by duration analysis published twice yearly by the Central Statistics Office in respect of April and October. The following table sets out the data requested by the Deputy:

Table 1 attached sets out the number of persons on the live register in the format requested by the Deputy. Figures refer to the end of December each year.

A breakdown by postal district is not available. However, table 2 as follows shows the catchment area for each social welfare local office in Dublin.
