While I carried out no official duties on St. Patrick's Day, I undertook a promotional tour for the IDA, which commenced on 16 March and terminated on 22 March. I was accompanied by four other persons, my wife, my special adviser Ms Siobhan Kenny and two officials of my Department, Mr. Ronal Long, Assistant Secretary and Mr. Martin Territt, Press Officer. The estimated cost to my Department is £7,750.

The Minister for Commerce, Science and Technology, Deputy Rabbitte, undertook official visits to Chicago and Boston where he represented the Government at official ceremonies including IDA promotional business in Boston. The Minister was accompanied by Mr. Dominic McBride, Private Secretary. The estimated total cost of the visit is £9,000, which will be borne by my Department.
The Minister for Labour Affairs did not attend any official functions on the day in question.
