Vol. 476 No. 7

Written Answers. - Departmental Staff.

Ivor Callely

Question:

57 Mr. Callely asked the Taoiseach the persons appointed by him or by the Minister(s) of State at his Department as programme managers, advisers, assistants or back-up staff, either in his Department or in constituency offices; the annual remuneration paid to these staff; the names of individuals, groups or companies which have undertaken or have been approved to undertake full-time, part-time or casual consultancies, reviews, examinations, analyses or any public relations service on his behalf or on behalf of the Ministers of State at his Department; and the full costs in respect of these to his Department. [8047/97]

I refer to my answer to the Deputy's previous question, Parliamentary Question No. 77 of 22 January 1997. The position regarding staffing is unchanged since then. No other consultants have been engaged since the Deputy last inquired. The position in relation to the cost of consultancies listed on 22 January has changed as follows:

Strategic Management Initiative

Design of Newsletter: Tenders will issue shortly for the design and printing of the SMI Newsletter. Estimated total costs are £36,000.

Strategy Statement for the Department: The estimated cost this year of the design and printing of the strategy statement is expected to be £11,900.

Efficiency Audit Group

Requests for tenders have now issued for the EAG Review of Local Government Expenditure on Non-national Roads. The estimated cost is £165,000.
