Vol. 476 No. 7

Written Answers. - Ministerial Duties.

Ivor Callely

Question:

78 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Finance his official duties, if any, on St. Patrick's Day; the official duties, if any, of the Ministers of State at his Department; if so, the duration of his duties and his visit; the number of people in his delegation; if he will give a list of those people; the total cost and related costs in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7933/97]

On 17 March, 1997, I attended an ECOFIN Council meeting in Brussels at which I was accompanied by my private secretary, special adviser, departmental press officer and three departmental officials. Because the cost of travelling to such meetings is recoupable there was no substantial cost to my Department arising from this visit.

The Ministers of State, Deputies Coveney and Doyle, both attended official engagements in their constituencies at no cost to my Department.
