Vol. 477 No. 1

Written Answers. - Qualifications Recognition.

Noel Dempsey

Question:

168 Mr. Dempsey asked the Minister for Education the reason her Department is refusing to recognise qualifications obtained in the University of Ulster for teaching purposes. [8635/97]

All qualifications have to be assessed by the Registration Council or my Department, as appropriate, in order to determine their acceptability for the purposes of teaching in second level schools in this country. I am not aware of any particular difficulty with regard to qualifications awarded by the University of Ulster. If the Deputy has a specific case in mind I will arrange to have the matter investigated if he provides me with the details.
