Question:

181 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for Justice the number of gardaí of all ranks and civilian staff currently stationed at Ballymun, Whitehall, Santry, Mountjoy and Finglas, Dublin; the comparative figures for March 1992; and if she will make a statement on the matter and estimate the numbers on normal rostered duties and special duties. [8591/97]

The Garda authorities are responsible for the detailed allocation of Garda resources and personnel to different areas. They have expressed concern, and I share that concern, about supplying the kind of detailed information relating to Garda personnel attached to individual stations and to specific duties as sought by the Deputy, on the grounds of security and in the interests of crime prevention generally.

However, I can supply the Deputy with the following details for the relevant Garda districts:
