Vol. 477 No. 1

Written Answers. - Bovine Diseases.

Kathleen Lynch

Question:

198 Kathleen Lynch asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the plans, if any, he has to re-introduce vaccination against brucellosis in view of the current trend of breakdowns in counties Cork, Kerry, Limerick and Tipperary; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8380/97]

I have no plans at this stage to re-introduce vaccination against Brucellosis. However, the situation in the south west is currently the subject of discussions between my Department and the main farming and veterinary interests with a view to finalising new measures to combat the spread of the disease in the area.
