101 Mr. B. Smith asked the Minister for Finance if he will ensure that areas in County Cavan flooded by the River Erne are included in the national priority programme for the alleviation of localised flooding; when the priority list of such areas will be decided; when the programme of works will commence; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I refer the Deputy to my written reply to his previous question, vol. 474, col 1619 of the Official Report of 13 February 1997 in which I stated that "the position regarding a national priority programme for the alleviation of localised flooding is as enunciated in my written reply to the Deputy as reported at page 226 of the Official Report of 17 December 1996. I am currently awaiting the final report and recommendations from the consultants and when this is received and examined by my officials I will make a decision on the list. I expect to be in a position to make this decision in or about April of this year". The position has not changed since then.
