Vol. 477 No. 2

Written Answers - Kinlough (Leitrim) Bridge.

John Ellis

Question:

138 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for the Environment when he will provide funding to Leitrim County Council for the replacement of Lennox's Bridge, Kinlough, County Leitrim. [8914/97]

Road grants have been fully allocated for 1997 and there are no additional funds at my disposal from which a further grant could be made to any local authority this year. The project in question would fall to be funded, therefore, from the council's own resources, supplemented by either the annual discretionary improvement grant from my Department or under an EU grant aided scheme, if the council can establish that the project meets the relevant EU eligibility criteria. Invitations to local authorities to nominate proposals for consideration for funding in 1998 under such schemes will issue later this year.
