Vol. 477 No. 2

Written Answers - Tallaght Centre Purchase.

Chris Flood

Question:

139 Mr. Flood asked the Minister for the Environment if he has received an application from South Dublin County Council for a compulsory purchase order on the old town centre, Tallaght, Dublin 24; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that the residents of Tallaght village and particularly Bancroft estate are anxious that this matter be finalised without further delay in view of the fact that the site and building are currently in an appalling condition and are frequently used for serious anti-social activities; if so, if he will immediately approve the application from South Dublin County Council; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8915/97]

An application under the Derelict Sites Act, 1990, for my consent to the compulsory acquisition of the site referred to has been received from South Dublin County Council. The consultations required under the Act have now been completed and I will give my decision as soon as possible.
