Vol. 477 No. 2

Written Answers - Ardee (Louth) Fire Station.

Michael Bell

Question:

143 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for the Environment the plans, if any, he has to give sanction to the provision of a new fire station at Ardee, County Louth; if his attention has been drawn to the serious and dangerous state of the existing station, particularly in relation to the health and safety of the fire crew; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8925/97]

The provision of proper premises for its fire brigades is a function of the fire authority, Louth County Council, aided by grants from my Department in the case of new building projects. An updated cost plan for a proposed new fire station at Ardee is awaited from the council.
