Mary Coughlan

Question:

199 Miss Coughlan asked the Minister for Education when a director will be selected for the teacher centre in Donegal town; when funding will be made available for the project; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [9137/97]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 198 and 199 together.

There has been a very large response to the advertisement for the posts of directors of the new full-time education centres. The processing of these applications has taken some considerable time. At the same time, a number of other procedural issues must be finalised before interviews can be held. These processes are now almost complete and arrangements are being put in place for the holding of the interviews shortly.
Following the appointment of a full-time director in Donegal funding will be made available to assist in the establishment of the centre on a full-time basis.
