Vol. 477 No. 2

Written Answers - Milk Subsidies.

Ned O'Keeffe

Question:

268 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will reconsider the case of a person (details supplied) in County Cork who has failed to qualify for the EU subsidy of 50 pence on milk; and if he will make the details of the off-farm scheme available to this person. [8705/97]

Eligibility for subsidy towards the purchase of restructured quota under the 1996 restructuring scheme was determined on the basis of criteria set down by the EU Commission. These criteria were notified to all applicants for subsidy. As the person named did not satisfy the income criterion, his application was unsuccessful and cannot, therefore, be reconsidered.
