306 Mr. J. Walsh asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the progress, if any, to date in securing funding for a computerised system for livestock traceability; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9183/97]
The recently published 1997 Revised Estimate for my Department, Vote 31, includes a provision under subhead A5 of £7.818 million for computer and data preparation equipment. That provision incorporates a sum of £4 million for the development of a computerised bovine animal traceability system.
