Each person has been appointed for a five year period with their term of office commencing on 3 March 1997, with the exception of Councillor Braham Brennan — Port of Cork Company — whose appointment commenced on 11 March 1997. Local authority nominees have been appointed for a five year period or for as long as they continue to be a member of the nominating local authority. In accordance with section 36 of the Harbours Act, 1996 the chief executive of each company will also be anex officio director of the company. Worker director elections will take place at the ports of Dublin, Cork and Dún Laoghaire before 3 March 1998 for the purpose of appointing two employee directors to each of those boards. The term of office for these directors will be five years and the fee payable to each director will be £4,000 per annum.
