Vol. 477 No. 2

Written Answers - Wicklow Mountains National Park Study.

Noel Dempsey

Question:

28 Mr. Dempsey asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht the further steps, if any, he intends to take following the publication of the Wicklow Mountains National Park Study. [5063/97]

As the Deputy will be aware, the Wicklow Mountain National Park Study was published as part of a public consultation process which will end on 7 May next. Thereafter, the consultants, RPS Cairns, will be given an opportunity to comment on the observations or suggestions received. At the end of this process, the Minister will consider all of the issues involved and decide on any further action which may be required.

However, immediate action will be taken to implement the report's recommendation which states that the original site proposed for the visitor centre at Luggala be disposed of and the best means of restoring the land as near as is practicable to its original character is being considered at present.
