Vol. 477 No. 2

Written Answers - Tax Refunds.

Ned O'Keeffe

Question:

62 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Finance if he will have arrangements made for a refund of tax to issue to a person (details supplied) in County Cork who was employed with the Southern Health Board and is now unemployed. [8995/97]

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that the inspector of taxes is not aware that the former employee of the Southern Health Board paid any income tax in 1996-97. According to information available to the commissioners, the taxpayer has not worked for the Southern Health Board since 1994. Her tax liability for 1994-95 was reviewed in 1996, and a refund of overpaid tax was made.

Question:

63 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Finance when a tax refund will issue to a person (details supplied) in County Cork for the years 1992-93, 1993-94 and 1994-95. [8996/97]

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that the inspector of taxes does not have sufficient information to determine whether the taxpayer is entitled to tax refunds for the years in question. The inspector has requested the taxpayer to provide the information needed to determine her tax liabilities but has had no response. When the information is received the inspector will review the taxpayer's liabilities for the years in question without delay.
