Vol. 477 No. 2

Written Answers - Screen Commission.

Ivor Callely

Question:

108 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht the progress, if any, on the establishment of a screen commission for Ireland; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8883/97]

The question of the establishment of a screen commission for Ireland is under active consideration.

In the meantime, pending resolution of this matter, I should inform the Deputy that my Department and Bord Scannán na hÉireann-the Irish Film Board work closely together and with other Departments and State agencies and play a strong pro-active role in facilitating Irish and international producers who are considering availing of Irish locations, facilities and incentives for film production.
