Vol. 477 No. 3

Written Answers. - Operation Freeflow.

Chris Flood

Question:

102 Mr. Flood asked the Minister for the Environment the progress, if any, which has been made on the implementation of phase 2 of Operation Freeflow in relation to its extension to urban villages and the targeting of key routes into Dublin city; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9388/97]

Operation Freeflow Two covers the general metropolitan area of Dublin, with particular emphasis on the urban villages and the key routes into the centre, as well as the city centre itself. I am advised by the Dublin Transportation Office, which is the overall co-ordinator of the initiative, that it is having a significant beneficial effect, with evidence of improved traffic flow on the arterial routes and in the city centre. DTO is preparing a report on progress to date which will be made available to all of the participating organisations shortly.
