I understand from the Garda authorities that all members of An Garda Síochána are issued with whistles as part of their basic uniform kit. There is a supply difficulty at the moment which only affects student gardaí who are always accompanied by a member of the force. It is hoped that the supply difficulty will be addressed shortly.
