Vol. 477 No. 3

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Kathleen Lynch

Question:

90 Kathleen Lynch asked the Minister for the Environment the current position in relation to the reallocation of grants to Meenacuing group water supply, Gweedore, in order to improve the supply to the townlands of Meenderryamh and Arduns in Gweedore, County Donegal; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9315/97]

I understand 30 additional members, mainly from the townlands referred to, have joined the scheme since the initial grant allocation of £42,590 was notified to the group. Grant payments to date amount to £37,740. The group's grant allocation has now been revised upwards to £64,420 to take account of the increase in membership. Further payments will be made according as work progresses on the scheme.

Noel Dempsey

Question:

91 Mr. Dempsey asked the Minister for the Environment the plans, if any, he has to approve a water and sewerage scheme for Batterstown, County Meath. [9316/97]

Preliminary proposals for Batterstown water supply scheme and Batterstown sewerage scheme have been submitted to my Department but, given the high level of commitments under the water and sewerage programme, I cannot say when it may be possible to approve them.
