Smith asked the Minister for Education the stage of planning of the Corlurgan national school project; when tenders will be invited in respect of this building; if funding will be provided for this project in 1997; when construction work will commence; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The architectural planning for the proposed building project at Corlurgan national school is at an advanced stage and the architectural team are currently preparing contract documentation. The project is being handled by the school's own design team. When the project is ready for tender, a decision on the timing of the tender process will be taken in light of available capital resources and existing contractual commitments. Therefore, I am not in a position to state at this stage when construction will commence.
