65 Mr. Molloy asked the Minister for the Environment the current position regarding the application by Galway Corporation for the construction of a Knocknacarra distributor road under the EU co-financed scheme of grants for specific improvement projects on non-national roads; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Galway Corporation included a proposal for the Knocknacarra distributor road in its application for funding in 1997 under the EU co-financed scheme of grants for specific improvements on non-national roads which are of economic benefit and help to generate employment. The proposal was not selected for funding in 1997. The corporation recently supplied additional information to my Department in relation to the project. It has been informed that the project will be considered for funding in 1998-99, subject to the submission of a fully documented application which demonstrates compliance with the EU eligibility criteria.
