Vol. 477 No. 5

Written Answers. - Au Pair Employment.

Joe Costello

Question:

69 Mr. Costello asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs whether a person (details supplied) in Dublin 7 is entitled to work as an au pair in Ireland. [9650/97]

Ireland is not party to any international agreement regarding au pairs. However, persons from European Economic Area (EEA) states may reside in Ireland in certain circumstances, including for au pair purposes. There is no arrangement in place whereby non-EEA nationals such as this person may remain in Ireland as au pairs.
