Vol. 477 No. 5

Written Answers. - Home Support Scheme.

Liam Aylward

Question:

101 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Health when it is intended to have the home support services scheme implemented by the health boards; and if he will give details of this particular scheme. [9644/97]

A home support scheme was initiated in 1992 as part of the developments in services to persons with a mental handicap. This scheme has been expanded in recent years and has proved to be very successful. The services are delivered in as flexible a manner as possible and are designed to meet individual needs. Additional funding is being made available in 1997 to increase the range of support services available, especially to those awaiting services.
