Vol. 477 No. 6

Written Answers. - Community Employment Schemes.

Ivor Callely

Question:

123 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment the percentage of people who have gained full employment arising out of community employment schemes; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10132/97]

Community employment has been in operation since April 1994. A preliminary sample survey of participants who left the programme having completed 12 months' participation was carried out by the ESRI in 1996 and indicated that 29 per cent had found full time employment; 20 per cent had found part time employment; 7 per cent were self employed and 10 per cent had entered full time education programmes or progressed to specific skills training programmes.
