Instruction to Select Committee: Motion.

I move:

That, notwithstanding anything in Standing Orders:

(1) The proceedings in the Select Committee on Finance and General Affairs on the Finance Bill, 1997, shall be brought to conclusion in accordance with the following timetable:—

Chapters II and III of Part I (covering sections 14 to 46)

12.30 p.m.

Parts II and III (covering sections 54 to 86)

4.00 p.m.

Parts IV and V (covering sections 87 to 102)

5.30 p.m.

Parts VI, VII, and VIII (covering sections 103 to 131), the Schedules and the Title

8.30 p.m.

and where proceedings have not concluded by the stated time, they shall be brought to a conclusion by one Question, which shall be put from the Chair, and which shall, in relation to amendments, include only those set down or accepted by the Minister for Finance or a Minister of State, nominated as substitute on his behalf.

(2) No Member may claim a division on the proceedings on the Finance Bill, 1997, except on a Question put as provided for in accordance with paragraph (1): provided, however, that whenever the Chairman shall have declared the result, in his opinion, of the putting of any question, any Member may have his dissent from such declaration recorded in the official proceedings of the Select Committee by raising his hand when called upon to do so by the Chairman.

(3) The Select Committee shall report back to the Dáil on the Finance Bill, 1997, not later than Thursday, 24th April, 1997.
