Written Answers. - Departmental Properties.

Seán Power

Question:

42 Mr. Power asked the Minister for Finance if his attention has been drawn to the frustration and anger of the people of Robertstown in view of the legal problem which has prevented the building of a barracks and houses; if he will intervene and ensure that the matter is resolved and allow the development to go ahead; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10077/97]

There are a number of contractual issues to be resolved before the legal formalities between the Commissioners of Public Works and Kildare County Council can be completed. These have been the subject of correspondence between the Chief State Solicitor's office and the solicitor for the Council. I am making immediate arrangements for officials of the office of Public Works to meet officials of Kildare County Council with their legal advisers to try to finalise the matter quickly.
