Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Rory O'Hanlon

Question:

71 Dr. O'Hanlon asked the Minister for Education if she will provide funding to repair the roof of Castleblayney junior school, County Monaghan. [10032/97]

James Leonard

Question:

75 Mr. Leonard asked the Minister for Education the proposals, if any, she has to make funding available to repair the roof a school (details supplied) in County Monaghan in view of the fact that eight of the nine classrooms are leaking and ceiling tiles are falling down. [10079/97]

I propose to take Questions Nos.71 and 75 together.

I am aware of the problems being experienced with the roof at Castleblayney junior school, County Monaghan.

At present, I am not in a position to sanction funding towards this project. It will have to be considered within the scope of existing contractual commitments and available funds. I will be keeping expenditure on the primary building programme under review during the year. My Department will contact the school management directly in the matter.
